After being illegally evicted from their rental home of sixteen years in Seattle, Miss Tess and Sean were unable to find another place to live with room for the studio in Washington amidst the ongoing housing affordability crisis. Never wanting to risk a situation where students could lose their teacher again, Sean searched for the most economical city in the US to buy a house: Youngstown, Ohio. Miss Tess and Sean were required to leave their home three days before the studio’s 20th Anniversary Spring Recital. They stayed in a hotel through the performance, an event of celebration and grief, and afterwards drove to Ohio. Their house in Youngstown is named “The Forge,” a title Miss Tess had chosen before ever hearing of the city or its history. This new home is where Miss Tess and Sean will build an unbreakable steel ribcage for the heart of the studio.
