Summertime
July and August
Summertime is its own world, a separate experience from the school year’s calendar.
Because of its changeable nature, summer is only available to returning students. It is not a time for setting foundations for a new studio family.
The studio is open for six weeks through July and August. During this time, each studio family can choose the amount of lessons they would like to schedule depending on what works best to support the student’s summer goals and availability.
Some students keep a weekly timeslot for consistent practice, some attend at random intervals, some schedule lessons all in a row for intensive work, some take the summer off.
Summer is an excellent opportunity to “just play” without the pressures of group events or performances. Students have a chance to explore areas of music they may have missed during the school year. Highlights include composing, tons of music theory, and duets or trios. This is notably an opportunity for recording epic studio videos.
Finding a balance between taking a break and maintaining skills is an art. Music is a language like any language, and it is important for students to practice enough during the summer that they stay fluent for the fall.
